YP Simplified Series Presents:

Well Test Flow Back Into the Hull of a DNV DRILL(N) Class Drillship

Hussein Selim, Senior Technical Sales Engineer, Expro

Registration and networking from 6.00 pm, with the event starting at 6.45 pm

Outline:

Extended Well Testing (EWT) is fundamentally the same process as standard Well Test operations, but carried out over a longer duration. The duration of a standard Well test is typically 1-3 days, whereas Extended Well Test operations are generally conducted in up to 90 days. The main challenge for the Extended Well Test operations is ensuring the flow period is continuous and uninterrupted i.e weather conditions for crude oil export to tanker and fluid stabilization for flaring operation. The solution is for fluids to be stored on-board the drillship in the storage tanks in case flaring operations cannot take place. In this case, fluids are processed through the well test package then transferred to the drillship storage tanks for further stabilization prior to controlled flaring post-test.

Key Design Consideration:

  • Standard 15K Well Test Package with additional equipment to enable Extended Well Testing
  • Drillship Hull Tanks with up to 80,000 bbls capacity
  • Well performance
  • True Vapour Pressure and Temperature requirements for storage facility limitations
  • Oil Flaring during test and offline flaring to be carried out in a controlled manner post testing
  • Continuous Gas flaring during operations
  • Water to be treated and discharged overboard
