YP Simplified Series Presents:

The Energy Industry in 2022 – Transition in Action

Brenda Wyllie

Northern North Sea and West of Shetland Area Manager, North Sea Transition Authority

In-person event at NEO House, Aberdeen, AB11 7LH **Registration and networking from 6pm, with the event starting at 6.45pm**

Abstract: In this presentation Brenda will discuss some of the Energy sector changes that have occurred over the past couple of years, including the regulatory requirement to deliver net zero.  This is set alongside the public debate that has played out in national media.

Brenda will then discuss the urgency and opportunities presented by the global energy transition. The North Sea has a massive carbon abatement potential, with opportunities of world class assets and people; to deliver carbon capture and storage.  New potential of industrial scale hydrogen production and integrating offshore wind into existing and new hydrocarbon production facilities are also key to this energy transition. This, with the backdrop that all forecasts predict a continued requirement for hydrocarbons within our energy mix.

Brenda welcomes a lively and challenging Q&A session, please be engaged!

Biography: Brenda has been with the North Sea Transition Authority since 2015.  In a short space of time, the NSTA created a new vision for the UK Continental Shelf by engaging with the ambition to move towards renewable energy sources, incorporating renewables into oil and gas developments and delivering emission reductions.

The NSTA strategy now fully incorporates net zero and the OGA’s energy integration work highlights the massive carbon abatement potential of the North Sea, including carbon capture and storage, hydrogen.
