SPE Aberdeen D&I are delighted to host:

You & I and Our Workplace

One of several panel events where we will hold an open discussion on how we identify ourselves in the workplace, and how can we support our colleagues in their work life journey?

This event will feature conversations with Samantha Jayne Nelson, Shell, and Dushyant Sharma, bp, followed by a panel session.

Samantha Jayne Nelson, Offshore Installation Manager, Penguins FPSO

Samantha has recently returned to an operational OIM role with Shell on the Penguins FPSO project based between China, Aberdeen, and London. Having worked in the Brent Field in the 1990s and has more recently supported Solen (Shell Captive Insurance Company). Visiting and Auditing all Shell operated and Joint Venture offshore assets globally.

Sam joins us to openly and honestly share the story of her extraordinary journey, transitioning in the male-dominated workplace of oil platforms, she is committed to helping people understand the value of authenticity, inclusivity, and the impact of allies.

Dushyant Sharma, VP Transformation Implementation (Interim)

With over 20 years’ experience in the Energy industry which has taken him to various countries including Norway, Denmark, US and Canada, Dushyant joined bp in 2009 and has held leadership positions in the areas of Digital, Performance and Process Improvement, across many teams. He joined the North Sea business in Aberdeen in 2017. He is passionate about people development and believes in DE&I being an important part of business.

Dushyant actively mentors professionals both within and out-with bp, with mentees across the diversity spectrum. He has helped women colleagues obtain promotions and into jobs they never thought were possible for them. He finds bp a very active company in the space of DE&I and this is measured by the numerous awards the company has won for multiple initiatives in this space. He firmly believes that there is much more to do to get the world of work to an equitable place, and active conversation, transparency and courage are the key themes required.

This event will take place on Zoom. A link to join the event will be sent out in advance of the event.
