The Journey to Sustainability – UKCS.

Presented by: Brenda Wyllie, Northern North Sea and West of Shetland Area Manager, OGA

This talk is a sequel to the January Simplified Series presentation on the Future Competiveness of the UKCS, which addressed a number of key points including, the supply and demand curve & key factors; unit costs; factors affecting our competitiveness, and what we can do as an industry to remain competitive.

Brenda Wyllie will bring in fresh insight from the perspective of the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA), on the considerable work being undertaken to transform the UKCS into a more competitive basin. In particular, she will share some industry context, the work the government and the OGA has done to support the sector and close with a vision for the future. It is important to recognise what the industry has achieved, what is currently in progress, and what is in the pipeline for the future in order to ensure we are a sustainable, cost efficient and competitive industry that is able to continue to attract investment.

Biography: Before joining the Oil & Gas Authority, Brenda was Production Manager with Oil & Gas UK, managing activities associated with the PILOT agenda.  Prior to this Brenda was with CNR International where she was responsible for the company’s Ninian field group. At BP she gained experience of FPSO operations and worked internationally for Hess in South East Asia.  At Schlumberger, Brenda worked offshore as a wireline engineer. Starting her career as an apprentice welder with Halliburton served a valuable experience for a woman working in a predominantly male environment industry.
